Blood Flow Restriction Training (BFRT) is gaining worldwide recognition in rehabilitation and performance training. Originally developed in Japan, BFRT was recognized as a specialized technique in American physical therapy in 2018. Despite its growing use in elite sports and rehabilitation, misconceptions and lack of knowledge remain barriers to its safe and effective application.
This course is designed for rehabilitation and performance professionals who want to understand the science behind BFRT and how to apply it safely and evidence-based. Participants will learn to assess indications, perform medical screening, and implement BFRT in both conservative and post-operative rehabilitation of the upper and lower extremities. Additionally, its role in enhancing athletic performance and recovery will be critically discussed.
BFRT allows significant strength and endurance gains at low intensity, making it particularly valuable when traditional high-load training is not possible due to injury, surgery, or pain. The course includes practical sessions using various BFRT tools to ensure participants can integrate BFRT effectively into their practice and help patients and athletes return to peak performance safely and efficiently.
